Privacy Policy - Homeschool Hotline
Last updated: June 2026
1. Who we are
Homeschool Hotline is an Australian business. We are committed to handling your personal information responsibly and in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
If you have any questions about this policy, please get in touch at jillina@homeschoolhotline.com.au
2. What information we collect
We collect personal information that you provide to us, including:
• Your name and email address
• Billing and payment details (processed securely through Stripe or PayPal — we do not store your card details)
• Membership details and purchase history
• Information you provide when registering for workshops, events, or our newsletter
If you register a child for an activity, we may collect basic details such as their age or year level for planning purposes. We collect this from the parent or guardian, not from the child directly.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
• Manage your membership and process payments
• Keep you informed about your bookings and account
• Send newsletters and updates (you can unsubscribe at any time)
• Improve our services
• Meet our legal obligations
We won't use your information for anything unrelated to these purposes without asking you first.
4. Who we share it with
We don't sell or trade your information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run our business:
• Squarespace — our website and membership platform
• Stripe or PayPal — payment processing
• Email marketing platforms (where we use one)
These providers can only use your information to deliver their services to us.
We may also share your information if required by law — for example, by a court or regulator.
5. Overseas storage
Some of our service providers are based in the United States (including Squarespace, Stripe, and PayPal), which means your information may be stored or processed there. We choose providers with strong privacy and security practices, but please be aware that overseas data may be subject to foreign laws.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your personal information for as long as we need it — typically for the duration of your membership and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet any legal or financial record-keeping requirements. When we no longer need it, we delete or de-identify it securely.
7. How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure, including encrypted data transmission and using reputable platforms with their own security safeguards.
If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by law.
8. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies and analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site and to improve your experience. This may include tools like Squarespace Analytics or Google Analytics, which collect general usage data such as pages visited and time on site.
You can turn off cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.
9. Your rights and choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
• Access — You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you at any time.
• Correction — You can ask us to correct any information that is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete.
• Opt out of marketing — You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send you.
• Make a complaint — If you believe we haven't handled your information properly, you can lodge a complaint with us directly or with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at jillina@homeschoolhotline.com.au. We'll respond within 30 days. In rare cases we may need to decline a request — if so, we'll always explain why.
If you're not satisfied with our response to a complaint, you can contact the OAIC:
• Website: www.oaic.gov.au
• Phone: 1300 363 992
10. Updates to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be on our website. If we make significant changes, we'll let you know by email or with a notice on our site.
